Sunday City Walks
Between 3rd July and 14th August 2005, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. The themes are as follows:
July 3rd - PRESCOT TOWN TRAIL (Walk of Faith). A walk around this Conservation Area, which was once more important than Liverpool. Meet outside Prescot Museum, Church Street, Prescot.
July 10th - BRITAIN'S NEWEST WORLD HERITAGE SITE, Part 3 (Walk of Faith). A walk through the Merchants' Quarter. Meet outside the Merseytravel/Tourist Information Centre, Queen Square, Liverpool L1.
July 17th - IRONMASTER & ARCHITECT IN TOXTETH PARK. A gentle stroll through St Michael's Hamlet in Aigburth. Meet at St Michael's Station (Merseyrail Northern Line), Southwood Road, Liverpool L17.
July 24th - BRITAIN'S NEWEST WORLD HERITAGE SITE, Part 4 (SeaWalk). A closer look at the Pier Head's 'Three Graces' and the South Docks. Meet at the Mersey Ferries terminal, Pier Head, Liverpool L3.
July 31st - WOOLTON VILLAGE, Part 2. A look at life here in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and its recent 'North West in Bloom' awards. Meet outside Woolton Post Office, Woolton Street, Liverpool L25.
August 7th - TALES OF THE RIVERBANK, Part 2 (SeaWalk). Another leisurely stroll along the Liverpool shoreline, taking in views of both sides of the Mersey. Meet at the Otters Pool pub, Otterspool Drive, Liverpool L17.
August 14th - SLAVERY REMEMBRANCE (SeaWalk). A walk which traces Liverpool's involvement in the trading of people for profit from the eighteenth century to the last slave ship to leave Liverpool. Meet outside the Merseytravel/Tourist Information Centre, Queen Square, Liverpool L1.
