Sunday City Walks
Between 23rd January and 27th February 2005, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. The themes are as follows:
January 23rd - ATLANTIC CROSSINGS (SeaWalk). The comings and goings of ships, people and epic events which have altered the course of history. Meet at the Mersey Ferries terminal, Pier Head, Liverpool L3.
January 30th - WHO WAS SARAH POOLEY? A Wavertree walkabout, tracing developments from the eighteenth century onwards. Meet in supermarket car park opposite the Picton Clock Tower, Childwall Road/Church Road North, Liverpool L15.
February 6th - THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER. A glimpse into Europe's oldest Chinatown, past and present, as it prepares for its New Year celebrations. Meet at the Chinese Arch, Nelson Street, Liverpool L1.
February 13th - PHOENIX FROM THE FLAMES. Stories about Liverpool's famous Philharmonic Society. Meet outside the Philharmonic Hall, Hope Street, Liverpool L1.
February 20th - BRITAIN'S NEWEST WORLD HERITAGE SITE, Part 1. A detailed look at some of the jewels in this newly-won crown. Meet at St George's Plateau, opposite Lime Street Station, Liverpool L1.
February 27th - THE MEN WHO BUILT THE DOCKS (SeaWalk). A walk to celebrate the pioneering work of Thomas Steers, Jesse Hartley and others. Meet outside the Merseytravel/Tourist Information Centre, Queen Square, Liverpool L1.
