Sunday City Walks

Between 9th May and 27th June 2004, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons.
The themes are as follows:

May 9th - THE LEGEND OF KNOTTY ASH. A look beyond the myths and fantasies of this famous Liverpool place name. Meet at the junction of Eaton Road and East Prescot Road, Liverpool L14.

May 16th -
FAZAKERLEY COTTAGE HOMES. A remarkable enterprise in a less visited part of Liverpool. Meet at Fazakerley Station, Longmoor Lane, Liverpool L9.

May 23th - '
GEORGIE PORGY PUDDING AND PIE'. A reminder of Liverpool's great Georgian past. Meet at the Queen Square Information Centre, Liverpool L1.

June 6th -
GATEACRE VILLAGE. A Conservation Area, once home to Andrew Barclay Walker, with a 300-year-old Unitarian Chapel. Meet outside the Black Bull Public House, Gateacre Brow, Liverpool L25.

June 13th -
WALK OF FAITH: 'FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW'. A walk in Toxteth, visiting the churches of St Clement's (1841) and St. Stephen's (2003). Meet on the corner of Grove Street near the Women's Hospital, Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool L8.

June 27th -
BRITAIN'S FIRST INDUSTRIAL CANAL
(Part 1). Walk some of the towpath, hear about its history and the plans for its future development. Meet at St Helens Central Station, Shaw Street
, St. Helens.

The cost of these walks is £3 adults, £2 conc's, payable to the Blue Badge or Green Badge Guide at the start of the walk. Walks last approx. 90 minutes, and will take place regardless of the weather!

Remember that you can HIRE A GUIDE, if you wish, to provide any of these walks at a future date and time to suit the requirements of your own group.
