Between 22nd April and 1st July 2001, guided walks around various parts of Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. The themes are as follows:
April 22nd - A LAND OF MAKE-BELIEVE. Stories of Diddymen, jam butties and other things in Knotty Ash. Meet at the corner of Eaton Road / East Prescot Rd, L14.
April 29th - 'A RESPECTABLE TRADE'. Some consequences of Liverpool's shameful trade in slaves.
May 6th - TWO URBAN VILLAGES. Discover some successful examples of community living close to the city centre. Meet at Sandhills Station, Sandhills Lane, Liverpool 5.
May 13th - A SEASIDE SAUNTER. Prepare for summer with a look at some of Southport's new developments. Meet at Southport Station, Chapel Street.
May 20th - MORE SPLENDOURS OF THE SYNAGOGUE. A repeat of our popular building visit to the Jewish Synagogue. Meet at the corner of
Upper Parliament Street / Princes Road, Liverpool 8.
June 3rd - ORANGES AND LEMONS. A step back in time (with the help of a No.200 bus ride) to look for the ancient hamlet of Windsor and parish of St Clement.
June 17th - FROM CASTLE TO CHAPEL. More fascinating facts about Liverpool's seven medieval streets.
June 24th - A RING AROUND THE CITY, No.1. The first of a series of places of interest linked by Liverpool's ring road, Queens Drive. Meet at Walton Church,
County Road, Liverpool 4.
July 1st - GETTING TO KNOW GATEACRE. A suburban walk with local expertise! Meet outside the Black Bull, junction of Grange Lane/Gateacre Brow, Liverpool 25.
