Between 14th January and 15th April 2001, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. Some of the themes are as follows:
January 21st - YEAR OF THE SNAKE. The changing face of Chinatown and the Rope Walks Quarter. Meet at the Chinese Arch, Duke Street / Berry Street.
January 28th - 'LONG TO REIGN OVER US'. A celebration of the life of Queen Victoria and her pride in the Second City of the Empire, 100 years after her death.
February 4th - THREE SWANS AND A GLASSHOUSE. The past revisited in the suburb of Old Swan. Meet outside the Old Swan pub, St Oswalds Street, Liverpool 13.
February 11th - HOPE IN THE COMMUNITY. Explore exciting new developments in the Hope Street quarter.
February 25th - 'IN MY EARS AND IN MY EYES'. A wander round the Penny Lane area. Meet at the bus stop in Smithdown Place off Smithdown Road.
March 11th - DISCOVERING THE DOCK. A chance to see things you never noticed before at the Albert Dock. Meet at the Albert Dock Tourist Information Centre.
March 18th - THE LADY WITH THE LAMP. Medical miracles inspired by Florence Nightingale. Meet at the corner of Upper Parliament Street / Princes Road, Liverpool 8.
March 25th - 'AND THEY'RE OFF'. Focus on Aintree, home of the Grand National. Meet at Aintree Station, L9.
April 1st - WAVERTREE WALKABOUT. Looking at the site of a historic mill, and the Blue Coat School. Meet at the Picton Clock, Church Road North / High Street, L15.
April 8th - A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Looking at items ancient and modern in Calderstones Park. Meet at the
Menlove Avenue entrance.
