Sunday City Walks

In April-May 2010, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons.

The themes are as follows:

April 11th 'Ships with a tale to tell'
Some famous, some infamous ... come and find out more.
Meet outside the Mersey Ferries terminal, Pier Head, L3.

April 18th 'Roving around Tranmere'
Discover the Monkey Steps .... and other little-known places
Meet at the first bus stop in Singleton Avenue,
Birkenhead, Wirral CH42.

April 25th 'Discover Cronton'
A gentle stroll in Knowsley for a fascinating insight into early agricultural history.
Meet by the Stocks at Cronton crossroads,
Cronton Road
WA8.

May 9th 'The changing face of Litherland, Part 2'
We continue to rediscover the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, recall some of the area's former industries and hear about the role of the 'Mission'.
Meet at Litherland Library, corner of Linacre Road/
Bridge Road, L21.

May 16th 'Fortress Liverpool'
From rebellious medieval barons and dynastic disputes to World Wars 1 & 2, Find out where these have left their mark.
Meet by the Queen Victoria Monument,
Derby Square
, L2.

May 23rd 'Fazakerley Fever'
Explore the story of Aintree Hospital, from 19th century fever hospital to 21st century Foundation Trust.
Meet outside Fazakerley Merseyrail Station (Northern Line),
Longmoor Lane
, L9.

The cost of these walks is £3.50 per person (£3.00 concessions) payable to the Blue Badge or Green Badge Guide at the start of the walk. Walks last 90-120 minutes, and will take place as advertised unless unforeseen changes dictate changes. They are not dependent on the weather, so appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended

Remember that you can HIRE A GUIDE, if you wish, to provide any of these walks at a future date and time to suit the requirements of your own group.
