Sunday City Walks
In April and May 2009, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons (though not at Bank Holiday weekends).
The themes are as follows:
5th April 'Gateacre in Black and White'
Find out how Sir Andrew Barclay Walker, and others, gave the village its Mock Tudor look.
Meet 2pm at junction of Grange Lane and Gateacre Brow, Liverpool L25. (Bus 75E/78 to Rose Brow).
19th April 'A Township, a Village or a Suburb?'
Discover the changing face of Birkdale.
Meet 2pm at Birkdale Station (Northern Line), Liverpool Road, Birkdale, Southport.
26th April 'I do like to stroll along the Prom, Prom, Prom.'
Explore the 'new' New Brighton.
Meet 2pm at New Brighton Station (Wirral Line), Atherton Street, Wallasey.
10th May 'All Railways Lead to Liverpool . . . 2nd Part'
A walk which celebrates the world's first passenger steam line of 1830, and a proposed World Heritage Site.
Meet 2pm at Edge Hill Station, Tunnel Road, Liverpool L7. (Bus 27, Wavertree Road Bus 79)
17th May 'Barriers and Connection'
A Town Centre trail exploring Runcorn as a vital commercial hub.
Meet 2pm at Runcorn Bus Station/TIC, Church Street, Runcorn. (Bus X1, 79C, 82A, from Liverpool).
31st May 'Hang the Welsh!!'
Two thousand years of crime and punishment in Chester.
Meet 2pm in front of Chester Town Hall, Northgate Street, Chester. (N.B. free bus from Chester Rail Station to city centre).
