Sunday City Walks

In January, February and March 2006, guided walks around various parts of Liverpool and Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons.

The themes are as follows:

22nd Jan  "The Year of the Dog" - Performance Walk. A repeat of our popular introduction to Liverpool's Chinese New Year preparations. Meet 2pm Chinese Arch, corner Nelson Street/ Duke Street.

5th Feb "Underground, Overground..." A walk which celebrates past and hidden parts of Liverpool's transport network. Meet 2pm Travel Centre, New Paradise Bus Interchange.

12th Feb "Flaybrick Memorial Gardens" Hear about some of the 'founders and famous' of Birkenhead. Meet 2pm at front entrance - bus from Birkenhead bus station to Tollemache Road.

19th Feb "Celebrating the Art Deco Style" - Performance Walk. A look at 1930s Liverpool as seen through its buildings. Meet 2pm Pier Head Mersey Ferry Terminal.

26th Feb "So near and yet so far" With St David's Day in mind, stories of Welshmen who have made their mark on Liverpool. Meet 2pm The 08 Place, Whitechapel.

5th March "Paradise Regained" Find out how and why the Duke of Westminster has put his faith in Liverpool. Meet 2pm at The 08 Place, Whitechapel.

12th March "Springtime in the Park" A retrospective look at Princes Park in its heyday. Meet 2pm at Sunburst gates, Princes Road (bus 80/80A)

19th March "When the Irish Came" Poverty and famine trail Part I. Meet 2pm Liverpool University Victoria Building, Brownlow Hill
