Between 3rd March and 28th April 2002, guided walks around various parts of Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. The themes are as follows:
March 3rd - HUYTON IN ITS HEYDAY. Stories of a lost village and its glorious past, of Royal arrivals, a musician, an actor and a school for young ladies.
Meet at Huyton Station, Derby Road, Huyton.
March 17th - CANAL LINKS PAST AND FUTURE. A further chance to establish just what we think of the proposed British Waterways canal link, as we trace the original route of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
Meet at the Pumphouse, Albert Dock, Liverpool L3.
March 24th - TALES OF THE DEAD. A walkabout in Toxteth cemetery with appropriate stories!
Meet at the Cemetery Gates, Smithdown Road, Liverpool L15.
April 7th - A ROYAL HUNTING FOREST, Part II. Explore more of the hidden corners of Toxteth and its parks.
Meet outside Princes Park Gates, Princes Avenue, Liverpool 8.
April 14th - AN OXTON AFTERNOON. A peep behind the scenes at this fascinating Birkenhead village with a style all of its own.
Meet outside the Williamson Art Gallery, Slatey Road, Birkenhead.
April 21st - EVERTON THROUGH THE AGES (Part I). The Beacon, Prince Rupert, Molly Bushell, St Domingo and St George: includes a visit to St George's cast-iron church of 1814.
Meet at the corner of St Domingo Road/Everton Valley, Liverpool L5.
April 28th - ROAD, RAIL AND WAYSIDE FLOWERS. Tales of turnpikes, railroads and the new National Wildflower Centre: includes a visit to the centre.
Meet at the Broad Green Station, Bowring Park Road, Liverpool L14.
