Sunday City Walks

Between 28th October and 16th December 2001, guided walks around various parts of Merseyside will depart at 2 p.m. on most Sunday afternoons. The themes are as follows:


October 28th
- HAUNTED LIVERPOOL. Tales of ghostly goings-on in bygone Liverpool.
Meet at Queen Square
Information Centre.

November 4th
- GONE SHOPPING! Discover what's happened to our shopping habits over the years. Meet at Queen Square Information Centre, Liverpool.

November 11th - BOOTLE LANDMARKS PAST AND PRESENT. See and hear how the Boltelai of the Domesday Book became the Whitehall of the North. Meet at Bootle Oriel Road Station, L20.

November 18th - A RAMBLE ROUND GARSTON. The Airport area is seeing plenty of change, but what about its neighbours? Find out today about some of Garston's less-frequented districts. Meet at Garston Station, off Woolton Road, Liverpool 19.

December 2nd - MORE LIVERPOOL CONNECTIONS. More stories of Liverpool's links with the slave trade. Meet at Queen Square Information Centre.

December 9th - SEASIDE ROCK. An introduction to Rock Park, one home to wealthy merchants and currently being restored. Meet at Rock Ferry Station, Bedford Road, Birkenhead.

December 16th - CHURCHES TO GO. As further scarcely-used churches face closure, we see this is not a new event in north Liverpool. Meet at the Moorfields entrance to Moorfields Station, Liverpool city centre.

The cost of these walks is £3 adults, £2 conc's, payable to the Blue Badge Guide at the start of the walk. Walks last approx. 90 minutes, and will take place regardless of the weather!

Remember that you can HIRE A GUIDE, if you wish, to provide any of these walks at a future date and time to suit the requirements of your own group.
