TOWN HALL RECEPTION TO BE HELD

Leaders of some fifty of Liverpool's heritage and arts societies are to be received by Council Leader Mike Storey at Liverpool Town Hall on Tuesday 26 July.  The societies have come together under the banner of Liverpool Heritage Forum as a network in order to exchange information about their activities. Forum Chairman Andrew Pearce says "Liverpool buzzes with cultural activities run by local history and civic groups, "Friends" of various major public buildings and museums and groups performing music from opera to sea shanties. We want each of these groups to be able to find out what the others are doing so that they can build bigger audiences and co-operate if they want to.  It is an important breakthrough to receive the recognition by the City Council which this reception brings."

A newsletter has been started carrying information about the events which the various societies are holding. A website is being built on which societies can publicise their aims and activities. Ideas are being shared between societies where projects and activities have similar aims.

Any voluntary cultural organisation with Liverpool interests can be included in the Forum's work.
